get involved

How can I get involved?

You’re here — you’re already involved! The UV is a great place to be, and you’re one of the biggest reasons why. Without people like you, we couldn’t organize clubs, activities, Nice-Up, parties, etc. We also certainly wouldn’t have people to share information with about the UV’s hidden gems and best places. Spread the word: more people = more fun!

What’s up with the clubs?

Hobbies can be a lonely thing. That’s where we come in — bringing people together! Perhaps you want to form a club with others who share your passion for paper airplane derbies or ice climbing. The first step is to find others on uvmeet.com, and start one up. Once others join up and you have a successful club going, contact one of the Staff and let us know — we’ll get you set up with a page here on the Scene.

But let’s say you want to do more — let’s say you want to write for the Scene!

Are you interested in making the Upper Valley a unique and exciting place to live? Do you have an knack for writing or explaining your passions about the uv? If so, we want to hear from you! Maybe you love the local food scene, or perhaps you want to write about the best picnic spots. You could talk about the best places to catch the sunset, or just muse about what it is that makes the uv the uv. Concert reviews, restaurant write-ups, local hangouts, secrets of the uv — we want it all.

Our writers have:

  • a love of the uv
  • unique perspectives from all towns in the area
  • a commitment to making the uv an interesting and happening place to live
  • fun!

We meet for a potluck once a month in WRJ to discuss the uvScene’s present and future plans. We are looking for people to contribute on a regular (weekly) and semi-regular (monthly) basis in order to keep the website vibrant and active.

But not only are we looking for writers, we also accept those whose skills are more technical — be they website design, fundraising, or organizational.

If any of this sounds like you, head on over to our contact page an drop us a line.

What we’re currently looking for in particular:

  • a writer from the Claremont area
  • writers in general
  • people with computer skills to work behind the scene, especially w/graphic design or php/database management/website management experience
  • anyone who has any sort of public relations/artistic talent
  • you!
